The Vallée des Saints in Carnoët in Brittany has been established since 2009 on a historic site, at an altitude of 230 m, which offers a breathtaking view of central Brittany. It is around the remains of a feudal motte that impressive monumental statues, 4 m high on average, stand enthroned. All fashioned in Breton granite, they represent the Breton saints, those religious who left Great Britain and Ireland during the early Middle Ages to land in Armorica. Today, the 140 sculptures of the Valley of the Saints lead visitors between history and legends ... Unique site in the world in the heart of Brittany, the Valley of the Saints is in perpetual artistic creation with the realization each year of new monumental statues to reach a thousand sculptures within a few decades. With more than 375,000 visitors in 2019, this original place of memory is tending to become a must-see in Brittany. To better accommodate its many tourists, the site has a new reception building (Bagad Café and shop). To reach the Vallée des Saints, take the D787 between Carhaix and Callac. Paid access to the car park. New for 2021: 15 new statues will be installed between May and September.
