Central Brittany was long considered abandoned at the beginning of the Neolithic period by new farmers in favor of the coast. This vision is today widely questioned thanks to recent excavations, in particular preventive ones. Florian Cousseau's research focuses on Western European megalithism. It began with a doctoral thesis, carried out in the West of France on some of the most important Neolithic megalithic sites (Barnenez, Carn, Guennoc, Prisséla-Charrière, Jacquille). His thesis received international attention, winning the UISPP thesis prize, which led him to integrate projects on Lebanese and Swiss megalithism. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher and directs an important European excavation on the cairn of Goasseac'h in Brittany.
