It was on August 5, 1944, that the first vehicles of the 6th American Armored Division crossed Gourin, liberating the town and triggering jubilation among the population. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of this event, a World War II camp will be set up in Tronjoly Park, from Friday August 2. The program: Saturday August 3. Tronjoly Park: reconstruction of an Allied camp from the Second World War: exhibitions, activities, jeep rides, reconstruction scenes... Tronjoly Castle: exhibition on the resistance in the Gourin region, museum of Breton emigration in America, cultural exhibitions (paintings, sculptures, photographs, etc.), museum of old tools, museum of geology. Snacks. 9 p.m.: show on Jean Moulin, founder of the National Council of the Resistance, at the Tronjoly village hall. From 12:30 a.m.: at Le Starman nightclub, in the city center: “80th anniversary evening of the Liberation of Gourin”. Sunday August 4: 10:30 a.m.: departure of the parade of vintage vehicles. 11 a.m.: commemoration of the liberation of Gourin: tribute to the gendarmes of Gourin, members of the Turma Vengeance resistance network.
